We are meeting on Marcus Aurelius' Birthday - Sunday, April 26th
This first Vegas Stoics meeting was held on April 27th, 2025, at the Urth Caffé across from the Durango Casino. Some of us joined because we were looking for social connection; others were looking to improve their Stoic practice. But all of us realized that the world can be a better place, but it starts with becoming better people ourselves.
Perhaps it is an auspicious sign that we started our stoa the day after Marcus Aurelius' 1904th birthday. We've had a small but steady group attending our monthly meetings since then.
We typically meet on the third or fourth Sunday of the month at the Urth Caffé near the Durango Casino. Our Luma calendar is embedded below. While our past discussions have been largely informal and centered on a proposed topic, in 2026 we are reading and discussing What Is Stoicism? by Campbell & Whiting. We are not a book club, but these short chapters help us build a solid foundation of Stoic principles to guide future discussions. If you're curious about Stoicism right now, consider reading our short Stoicism 101 article. Then, join us at the next meeting!
If you are also looking for an online community, consider joining the Stoic Fellowship Network. We have our own space for the Vegas Stoics, but there is also an online book club, study group, guided practice, and more. Check it out.
Stoicism isn't a social club or an intellectual endeavor. It is meant to be practiced. We encourage everyone to practice in the way that best suits their roles, but our hope is to develop a pool of volunteers to help our communities address the challenges they face. By doing so, we also aim to improve ourselves. We have not established any formal programs yet, so if you are interested and energetic, join our group and help us plan our efforts.
